Welcome to Care Services
Within our Care Services, CANW offer 2 placement services designed specifically for looked after children and young people or homeless and vulnerable young people. These are an established foster care service and a supported lodgings scheme. Each service has been developed to ensure that they offer the very best in quality, support and best practice. Both are delivered to meet the needs of children and young people in line with the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes or National Minimum Standards (Foster Care) 2002.
Foster Care Supported Lodgings
Care Services offer high quality foster care and supported lodgings placements for children and young people. As an agency we are committed to multi-agency working arrangements, which has been shown to be an effective method of supporting looked after children and young people and securing real improvement in their life outcomes.
We are committed to further developing our local partnerships with agencies so that the support needs of young people can be quickly addressed. We work closely with agencies such as Brook, Lifeline, local health services, schools, the designated nurse for looked after children and Children’s Services Departments to improve and achieve positive outcomes for looked after children. This is reflected in the stability of placements offered by Child Action Northwest and the positive outcomes achieved by children and young people living with our foster carers or with supported lodgings providers.
Placement support services, whether delivered by Child Action Northwest or other local voluntary or statutory agencies, are carefully coordinated so that the individual needs of each child or young person are addressed as soon as their placement commences.
To aid this, the Care Services has a team of experienced and qualified Supervising Social Workers who work closely with the foster carer on a day to day basis offering practical support and advise to assist in the safety and stability within the placement.
