“It’s about allowing children and young people to have a voice and play a part in shaping their own future.”

All children and young people have a right to voice their opinion, especially where their future and happiness is concerned. Supporting young people with any worries or issues they may have, we listen and encourage young people to be involved in making decisions that affect their life, helping them to find out what they need to know and how they can work to solve the issue.

Whether a young person needs support with arrangements to have contact with family members or to attend review meetings, advocacy provides advice about their rights and ensures they are treated fairly.

In addition, CANW provides an Independent Visitor service; this is an adult who has volunteered to help a child or young person in the care of the local authority, someone who will visit regularly and be there to listen to them.
